AstroPhot

Fit astronomical images jointly across objects, bands and observing epochs.

AstroPhot is a Python package for fitting models to astronomical images. It can fit multiple objects and images together, sharing parameters across bands or epochs while accounting for each image’s point-spread function. Built-in models cover galaxies, point sources and sky backgrounds, with model and residual images for inspecting fits.

Install with pip install astrophot using Python 3.11 or later. Joint fits need consistent image coordinates and reliable variance and PSF estimates. Large fits may need to be divided into smaller groups to fit available memory.
